i just don't want to forget

this is only a blog post because i don't want to forget....

the kids were making luminaria bags for Relay this coming weekend.  i asked them to make them in memory of their great papas since we lost them both to cancer.

raegan chose grandpa k & beast did grandpa b's.  they both decorated 1 side of their bag.  then they each wrote a little note on the other side.

here's rae's:
dear great papa, we all love & miss you very much.

here's b's:
dear grandpa, we all love you.

as i was verbally spelling for beast, i lost it.  broke down in a heap.  they don't really remember grandpa k & they never met grandpa b.  and while it was very sweet & touching that they did these notes, it broke my heart. 

i barely remember my great-grandparents, but i sure remember my grandparents.  and the thought of my kids not knowing these men (and grandma k as well) was just a little much for me. 

so now, i will really try to make it a point to show them pictures and tell them stories.  i will never forget my grandparents, and i really hope the kids don't forget the stories either.
