old married couple

sooooooo, it's the end of my big 30th birthday weekend.
(and side note, saturday was the 1 year anniversary of the divorce being final!!!)
and the weekend wasn't at all like i thought it'd be.

but it was GREAT :D

friday night (my actual bday...yeah friday the 13th!!) instead of partying it up, J and i took the kids to apple.bee's for dinner. and they made sure to have the servers sing to me!! we were having a great time. the kids & J got along fabulously :) it was amazing.

saturday J & i went shopping...at home depot. that's right. we're getting ready to redo pretty much everything in his house. so we chose carpet & paint for the living room. that's project numero uno. (oh, and some worker was like "you 2 are hilarious")

saturday night we went out boozing it up with some of my friends & happened to run into some of his coworkers.....nothing like killing 2 birds with 1 stone!! i even did shots with them :D

sunday i had lunch with my sis & her kids and then while J fixed the upstairs bathroom sink, i did laundry & dishes. then we came back to my place & cleaned a bit. he cleaned out my pantry. ::sigh:: he's a keeper just for that!!

oh, and we ran the kids over to his house so they could see it. they've been begging for awhile.

anyway....the point of this is that my bday weekend wasn't at all like a normal weekend for me....but i loved every second of it J & i are already like an old married couple. and it's awesome. i'm perfectly happy cooking dinner, doing dishes, & just lounging on the couch. it's comfortable. like we've known each other forever. i don't need to wear makeup. i can slather on nasty skin meds. i can have morning breath. it's great. it doesn't mean we don't still get all prettied up for each other. we absolutely still try to impress each other. but we have that old, married couple comfort level.

and i love it.
